Hi everyone

Here is another paper I have put together for myself with informaiton found on the Web from all different sources. I have copied it off the web and put it together for my own personal use. If this can help anyone out in answering some of the questions that are hard to answer and to find then I am happy to share this with you. I am not using the information I have taken off the web for any reason except my own personal use in trying to understand all the working of the HDD so that I can try and repair them. I live on a small island called Tahiti and it is very hard to find information here. My own resource is the Web and I need to find out information before asking a bunch of dumb question and have people laugh at me. Thank you for everyone who has posted different information on the Web it is very helpful to someone who is trying to understand and work with Hard drives. I have been in the data field for over 30 years but this is the first time working on repairing and restoring hard drives.

I think maybe the new people would be better off not reading.....

Don't worry, they will be more confused later...

Maybe if some of the do it your self people would take the time to understand what a hard drive is and how it works they would not waste so much of your time asking questions on how to repair their own drives. It is not the work for a in house handy man to do. You are right there is work that needs to be left to the professionals no mater what the cost is

Put it in the freezer it might help. Too bad here it is too hot for that method. Once it is taken out it will defrost too quickly. Plus we do not have Min. Rice or Cat littler here on our islands. This is for do it yourself people quick home remedy

Well I definatly understanda little more about the operation... is there anything you can tell me about headmapping?

For head maping the Internet is a world of knowledge. Please do not believe everything that you read find a lot and compare all resources. Try searching for Hard drive head maping informaton, What is head maping functions for hard drives and go from there. They will give you other suggestions for searches if you run into problems from there. Good luck on your quest. I did see what they are doing to you. You might be money ahead if you contact your credit card company and refuse the charges letting them know you did not authorize them and go take your drive back and contact someone outside of Canada you might get a better deal on this whole thing Good luck in all
