This tool doesnot support the ALTSA loader it gives an error while loading it no use trying it .
And this tool works in DEC mode while pc3k works in HEX mode so be carefull while writing and reading SA .

I want to add a little correction:
This tool supports both the ALT and non-ALT loaders, but only some times. :mrgreen:

Unfortunately there are things that money cannot buy (assuming having the money, at first). Enough said.

Hi all! Thanks for replies.

There is an empty (AA55) 95h modul on a N40P DM+8 hdd.
Is ALT_SA or no on this drive? How can I check it?
I assume not all N40P has an ALT_SA.

Is it possible to rebuild a bad/corrupt 33h module?

SelfScan=SelfTest?

BlackST:I do not plan to buy here anything. I need Info.

For a little correction:

Smart SelfTest != SelfScan

Thanks rameez!

Every information is important.
I have another (simple or no) question.
How can I check the checksum of a loader, if it is not in the name of the file ? Maybe with Winhex?

You can check the checksum with the maxtor checksum utility . You can find it on Hddguru file section .

Hi all!
Some N40P hdd has ALT-SA and some has no.
How can I check it, which has, without PC3000?
For example: mod 95h or external ROM exist or others.

External rom can be for a lot of purpose....
Example if the platter is lean on the planned SA area, the mfg can write another location or another BIAS value or similar for the SA, to be able to use.....
The external rom is independent from the ALT-SA.

All N40P should have Alt-SA

Try switching to ALT-SA with SA-c LDR .
Its rare to find n40p with no ALT-SA .

Thanks to Janos, rameez, harddrivespecialist!

Somewhere I read: If there is no external ROM that board sure support ALT-SA. Is it right?

Now I am searching for C loader, but I did not found it yet in File Section.
Can I use a COD file and rename as LDR?
My drive is:
