Hi folks,

The drive spins up fine, does not make any odd noises, but never drops busy. Drive shows this in terminal.

Code:
Reset
4096k x 16 DRAM
VENUS - 1_Disk    M-37   12-01-06_14:56

Buzz HM SFI
!
ERR Read App Code

F>R4
    Code - FF  Track 0F027.0.094  Sns 094

Looking around, some people have indicated this means an incompatible preamp. This drive has not been opened. If the preamp was completely failed I would expect a different message. Any thoughts?

No, I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with the preamp being incompatible.

Didn't get around to looking for a matching copy. The data was subsequently deemed to be non-critical, so the drive has been returned under warranty.

Thanks, though.

No, I believe it was BQH. And it didn't act like the scratched ones, there was no clicking or anything, it had no trouble doing spin to full init, etc.
