A little bit of humour is healthy. What's the problem ?

Is this how you answer questions? I asked why this thread was stopped. I DID NOT ASK whether a little humor was a problem or whether a little banter separated boys from men. I also asked BlackST to use his venerated status to put the thread back into the content. If he is so knowledgeable and so generous with this knowledge, it should be a child's play...

This thread has run it's course (actually it's gotten much too long)
The question was asked, and finally answered. So what more do you
want from it SAM ( as a fact you answered the original question)

All write, BlackSt, I'll will explain in detail, though I hoped my hints would suffice... I want this thread to continue for the following reason: If there are truly great specialists reading this forum, and they can express their thoughts, experience and knowledge in an understandable manner, I want to plant seeds in their minds of teaching highly specialized courses or seminars on DR. Maybe they are already on their own, or maybe this idea could serve as a stepping stone to be on their own. May be it is time to walk out of OffTrack or 745i or whatever great company they are toiling and have a shot at $50K/month.

I understand that just a thought of revealing "secrets" earned by so much sweat, frustration, rage, failure, sometimes broken marriages and G..d knows what else might seem repulsive to some of them. But there is another side of the coin.

Most important is the price. It must be huge. Possibly more than $1000/day/student. Also charges for every bit of after classes support - every email, every phone call - they will add up quickly to another several $100's/day.

Then comes the satisfaction with the work. Please do not underestimate this. There is very little in this world more satisfactory (IMHO naturally) than that look in your pupil's eyes - sometimes you see it in a house of worship. It is not adoration, nor is it hope. You can't describe it - there is no word for it in any language. But you know it when you see it. I have a PhD and taught university for years. Occasionally I saw that look. People say that the best thing after sex is power. I had a little power once - ran a company with 40 people for nine years. Trust me - that look is the next best thing, not the power.

So, BlackSt, this is the reason I want to keep this thread open. I think it is the only one to gather "public opinion" if there are takers for such courses or seminars. And if there are, what would they pay? Where would they come from?

It's just ridiculous and pointless for all this to continue and really degrades the integrity. How could so many brilliant people not see this by constantly posting sarcasm and attacking new guys. This is only my second post here and it really makes me feel like this is a closed forum and not accepting new members and even more HOW could the owner and moderators of this board let this continue?

Sorry, I seen some real value in this board until I came to this thread and let me tell you, it has a had a real negative impact. I have moderated for sound engineering boards and Photoshop for some years and this kind of mess is just plain awful. We are all adults, would you really interact like this to somebody you just meet? It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and be a smart ass, anyone simple minded fool could do that.

If a forum is not comfortable, the net is wide and warm... Your INTERACTION is bread and butter for someone else. Ask the same to your doctor and see...

I'm new to this forum, just wanted to say that I agree probably the only way to learn DR is doing it.

But first you have to learn all the technical stuff about drives and how they work, and that's what I think is useful in scott's videos. Then you start taking bad ones apart to get some hands on experience.

I can remember some of the classes I took at AT&T, (i'm a former tech). I'm staring at a fiber optic multiplexer and have to learn how to install & troubleshoot it. It all seems so complicated at first but you learn it by bits & pieces. In time you are able to troubleshoot any problem that arises.

My question, who taught Scott or is everything in his course a result of years of his own research? I bet the company that taught him is really happy he is using their information to make a quick buck. If he found out everything he knows off his own back then it's up to him what he does with his knowledge.

But when the market is completely saturated with Data Recovery Guru’s who have taken his course he will end up with no one else to teach, secondly when he is done with sharing his knowledge, he won’t have a data recovery business to fall back on as all his pupils are now his competitors.

As soon as common people get 'skilled' that way we'll only get richer... Only give them time and rope... what else to say ?

Nice!
This topic contains more information than entire English-speaking Internet.
Seriously, Russian language lessons would be much more valuable than any "Professional Data Recovery Courses".

Thank you Scott for a very thoughtful review. I am not a beginner, but I would be interested in some slightly more advanced classes. If you know of any, please post here. Thanks

There is one guy here in New Jersey that does Data Recovery, and he uses Salvation Data products, as well as atola and pc-3000. But most is done with SD. I believe he is also the only re-seller for SD in the U.S.
He is offering a full course on the whole SD product line. I guess if anyone would be interest they should look him up.

I think his website is.... www.pcwdatarecovery.com. He is very nice, i have seen him give the classes and he will get practical to show how things work, not only a boring powerpoint class.

But I don't know, he is one in many.

Hmm, a bit suspicious, are you sure this pcwdatarecovery isn't you??

I doubt they are using Atola or PC3K seeing that it's basically a front for SD.
