First two separate drives or one drive with partition inside of it?

Two separate drives get a drive and do a clone of the C drive.

After back up all data on D drive with clone of drive After you need to format the two drives best if low level format do not use fast format with Windows.

Easy way for you is take the drives out of computer and reset the D drive to master shows on label and set the C drive to slave shows on Label. Format the two drives and take you clone of C drive and reinstall it back on your new C drive which was your D drive. Do the same with back up of D drive reinstall back up on drive which was your C drive.

Second option is this if partition get a program like partition magic and resize your partitions. that is all that you need to do to make it work.

By any chance - allways clone your drive(s) before starting a resize.
There is no way back when the resizing hangs or creates garbage.
