HI
I HAVE Toshiba (80G IDE MK8025GAS HDD2188 c ZE01 S MADE IN CHINA) DEAD
AND I HAVE DONOR TOSHIBA (80G IDE MK8025GAS HDD2188 c ZE01 T MADE IN PHILIPPINES)

IS THIS DONOR HD IS SUITABLE TO SWAP THE PLATE ? OR Any suggestions ?

NOTE :I SWAPPED THE PCB BUT NOT WORK.

Proper diagnostics is neccessary first.
When you power the drive, do you hear a very faint chirping ?
If yes, two options: Spindle stuck, or head stiction.

In neither case a platter swap is neccessary. This can usually be solved in other ways.

Have you done anything like this before ?

My guess is not, otherwise you would have known that you can not directly swap boards on Tosh GAS series..

If the data is important, and you are unfamiliar with what you are doing, contact a professional DR company in your area.. If you let us know where you are, you will probably get a response from DR companies that subscribe to this forum.

There are case where pcb swap, that on these drives is useless, make MORE DAMAGE. Don't play with data.
