I was trying to cut the size of a drive I had. Not usually a problem. But this time when I changed the LBA the computer was still able to see original capacity. How is that possible?

i saw some newer bios (2005+) to just ignore hpa cuts and always see the full size
others also reset hpa to full size again
btw, i assume you have set permanent hpa?

Yes, it was. I did notice that the cable connecting the drive to the motherboard was a bit loose. I dont see how that could have made a difference though.
