There is one group of board members which is missed in your post - the guys doing HDD repair, not Data Recovery. I belong to this group and I'm fully aware how important could be a bit of information sent by a friend from this forum. Repairing a drive could bring me 10 - 20 $, so I cannot aford expensive tools like PC3000 UDMA, etc. MHDD is doing great job in most of the cases. MHDD script engine can do almost everything PC3000 can do if some information is abailable. Information we are searching in this forum.

agree some of BGman. and i think some home user still think it easy job after saw this topic

It is IMPOSSIBLE to repair (= REFURBISH, make drive re-usable) some drives without EXPENSIVE tools or without vertical applications built for it.
MHDD won't help in complete recertification of drives.

yeah. so we take expensive tool like UDMA for it. but for repair don't have big market. most for data revoery. and we had to repair how many drive for get back cost of expensive tools. 8)

As I told once before on this forum - I don't ask DR related questions here only answer them
Because the questions I would like to ask would never have useful answers on this forum (because of different reasons)
So, how exactly you would be helpful to me? Give me real reason why I should teach you, solve your problems and fix your mistakes?

PS: Please don't ask WTF I'm doing on this forum because I have already answered this too

To say you can't make good money from repair HDD is quite funny. You do need mass repair and repair at least 500-1000/day which is quite possible but you NEED A BRAIN at hardware level and need to code yourself. And nice thing is that most drives can do this internally withought MHDD or whatever else is out there

PC3000 ISA was originaly a repair tool for Russian engineer market and all the technical brains which have spread out around the world are mostly Russian. And still most of clever data recovery engineers are from CIS or former CIS countries.
Probably the greatest brain in hard disk code still lives in Moscow and still is in front of Acelab etc etc. BTW I was having a great time in recovery until pc3000 broke into international recovery companies.

A small piece of info shuch as MPG repair was worth 40k USD a month and like Quantum AS 20k USD a month. And BTW the Fuji info was easily done via simple R&D on their update package :O)

I was recovering drives for ActionFront before they imported the skills that they surely did not have  Ibas was brainless also..

Any way my rant over. However, I understand that Doomer is here to help not to take because he knows more than most on drive level code etc. If he did have a question it would be something low level ucode wise rather than "How to unlock a
new Toshiba" Just a guess anyway ;o)

I don't want to repair ALL drives. I am satisfied with 70-75% I reach by using simple thinks like PCB swap or MHDD... The other drives I just put aside.

This is not repairing drives, it's tinkering. Maybe such drives can be sufficient for average use, who knows... Not my standards, anyway.

Don't you say!

What is your standard? 500$ for DR, no matter it takes only a few hours R-Studio run ? It's a daylight robbery, isn't it ?
It's just GREED ! :!:

If your home heating fails how much will it cost you for repair? Get some perspective 500 USD is not alot when you take into account the overheads of operational costs. All A plumber needs is a van and a monkey wrench!

BGman easier if you moved to another forum where all of your GREED hating friends can share information. Information that was never free and cost "other" people time and effort.

The idea that we turn on greed is crazy. Sometimes a recovery is easy and sometimes very hard. So you win some and you lose some. Fixed price is fair and I ses no problem in it.

You can also be "greedy" by not wanting to buy tools and info and expecting it all gven on a silver plate. Is your R-Studio a legal copy or did you download from a P2P?

This forum was created and is for MHDD users as me!
Ace Lab has its own forum . PC3000 legal owners can share there their knowledge.

"Hard Disk Drives: data recovery and repair Forum" this is. Maybe there needs to be a MHDD user Forum?

How about R-studio? Did you pay for it? ;o)

Did I say I use R-studio ?
I don't need it since I do HDD repair, not data recovery ... Are you s...d or what?

From remembering some of your posts you probably have a ripped copy of R-Studio or some other recovery software.

Preaching about "Greed" is a joke. Look in the mirror! You probably like "FREE" stuff and feel that you deserve to use it, ripped P2P software probly overflows on your HDD's  Tight as ar$holes

What you do is a "Hobby" so you have said in the past, what I do pays for my food etc

Am I stupid? Thats very funny ............

Just to behave as civilized people, not to barking at each other !
Just to accept the facts which are:
1. The number of morons that do not backup their valuble data is getting lower and lower. And the price they are ready to pay is getting smaller and smaller.
2. The number of HDD's for repair is getting higher and higher.
3. The myth that DR requires very expensive tools and software is true only for about 5-10% of the cases. For the rest 90% DR (at 500$) is just cheating !
4. The people doing HDD repair are not competitors to DR people, so let us help each other as much as we can.

1) As you can see on this forum and on the countless useless forums on the net, people still think problems can happen only to other : If you were right, there would be no demand for data recovery. Luckily (for pros, for me...) you are totally wrong.
2) see point one : didn't you say that people do backups ? so why you say then taht the number of hdds to be repaired is increasing ? if they made backup why ask... oops, whine for DR (my customers ASK, but usually people WHINE, it's different). About price to pay : if people are poor it's not OUR problem : they can live with or without broken drives. Enterprises are not social services or charity. Live with it, it's the market economy.
3) 90% of problems nowadays are physyical (i.e. dropped, opened, baked, freezed, thrown away) , then tell us how do you deal with such problems on bedroom or garage with MHDD and some screwdrivers taking responsibility of data and giving answers, not excuses.
What if the problem is from undocumented or unsupported drives...
4) HDD repair means REPAIRING effectively HDDs not do a zerofill and / or relocation in G-list with MHDD. I know at least some people who do mass HDD repair with correct procedures, have legally established company and deliver quality refurbished drives, not time bombs.

Period.

BST Quote "not time bombs"

:O) very good

BGMAN Quote :"1. The number of morons that do not backup their valuble data is getting lower and lower. And the price they are ready to pay is getting smaller and smaller."

You are not in data recovery as you say. How do you know this for sure ;o) ?

2. The number of HDD's for repair is getting higher and higher. True

4. The people doing HDD repair are not competitors to DR people, so let us help each other as much as we can.

DR is half repair and then half logical recovery. Competing maybe not but the chance of you broadcasting the latest HGST Super ON command is rather MASSIVE I would guess!
