Hi all
I am looking for a bit of advice if possible please
had the above drive in for recovery with jammed bearings.
Did a platter swap with heads, pcb, magnets to donor chasis.
Drive spins up and is working smooth and silent no vibration.
The drive will I'd, firmware. Serial and capacity.
Launch de and I am able to image 206000 blocks very fast and correctly
then drive clicks.
Reset drive and it will read I'd again correctly
build heads map and do some selective imaging with 3 out of 6 heads and imaging is ok
I am suspecting heads as I am getting hm hm in terminal
just want to check if this can be an alignment issue also
thankyou in advance

sounds like 3 heads have failed. I would say, change the heads again.

hi
thank you for the answer.
i did swap heads this morning and am at least at a point where when i select DE the drive will show me the folder strucutre of the drive and i can browse folders straight away, however when i try and save files it is taking a very long time to save any files and it does start to click.
when trying to iage with DE i am getting some very slow imaging happening, at about 2 million blocks in the last 3 hours

i am wondering if i ha ve an alignment issue here?

i am suprised as in the past when i have brute force released the bearings and the drive has been noisy and vibrated i still got all datra off much quicker and easier.
now with the plater transplant done to a donor chasis and the drive is silent in operation and smooth i am having this issue, have i overloked something during the platter transplant ?

thank you

1 GB every 1.5 hours isn't too bad. Ask your client what the critical data is. Get that first. I don't think its an alignment issue.

you have to learn to be patient.
