If the command you entered took 2-3 hours, data may be gone but if you really want to find out, you might want to send it to a local recovery center near you. They should be able to tell you if the data is available or not. Also, a lot of places will give you the FREE Diagnostic.

I'm not trying to be mean to you, but it is not fun when we tell DIY people what kind of commands are out there to work on the drive and they will call you every name you can think of when the command was misapplied and their data was lost forever...

Lots of people to include the high-level IT techs think they can handle the data recovery on their own by just watching some YouTube videos and reading lots of data recovery forum such as here.

May be it's the economy, but I'm started to see more and more DIY Gone Wrong hard drives comming in for the recovery.

I.E. WD Raptor with just the BAD PCB (just a few hundred $$$ recovery), however, the Big Corp IT Boss thought it was the dead head stack, and attempted the head stack replacement in his office and killed the donor drive and the originally damaged drive with lots of fingerprints and scratched up top platters. Finger prints were even on the bottom platters... Data was gone on that drive.

Last week, I saw a drive with the wrong PCB and the original PCB with the original ROM were no where to be found. The hard drive owner put the original PCB in trash thinking the PCB from the same model drive but used a different version PCB would solve the problem... Another cheap recovery but it turned out to be a very expensive price tag and of course the recover was declined due to the cost.

This week, it was a bricked Seagate Drive but the IT guy thought it was the dead head and attempted the head replacement but failed. Another cheap recovery if it was sent in early, but again the recovery was declined due to the real recovery cost...

Another one was DIY Western Digital ROM Swap went bad and ended up killing the ORIGINAL ROM. It would have been a very cheap recovery if it was sent in early but price went up due to the complex damages caused by the DIY Mistakes. (More manual work to recover data than just the damaged PCB)

I don't know if I'm doing a favor to DIY people if I put out the information openly here knowing a lot of people will mis-diagnose the drive and end up applying the wrong procedures and erasing/killing very important data or priceless family photos/videos.

Sorry Vincent, but it seems your case is amongst the ones HddMania listed...
U can get upset by the above thoughts, but this is the reality.

That's probably because u never asked.
In your first post you already stated that you have run some commands and the drive was messed up by that moment already.
There is nobody to blame here I think, one must understand that people usually work for money, though we are usually helpful if we see the user is capable of doing some small interventions, while warn him of the possible outcomes.
But your case was different, as the deeds were already done at the moment of posting here.

Example #1:
Perform a "quick format" (process defect lists, clear format corrupt, do not write
or certify the drive)

F3 T>m0,6,,,,,,22

Example #2:
Perform a "quick format" (don't process defect lists i.e. unslip and unalt, do not
write or certify the drive)

F3 T>m0,6,0,,,,,22

Example #3:
Perform a format with the default data pattern 0x00000000 and certify with event
reporting enabled:

F3 T>m0,8,,,,,,22

Example #4:
Perform a format and certify with event reporting enabled, set max write retries
to 16, set max read retry count to 8, max ECC T-Level to 0, and track rewrite
during certify retry threshold to 20:

F3 T>m0,8,,10,8,0,14,22

Example #5:
Perform a format with user input data pattern 0xFFFFFFFF and certify with event
reporting enabled:

F3 T>m0,8,,,,,,22,ffffffff
Maybe give guys some help.........

Thks wawalab,
as I have well retain the lesson I will not send any more command to the drive without the help of a pro to analyze the situation.
I'm now okay to pay for an online assistance ... (agree with pepe : each work must be paid)

and m0,1 ? do not write or do write :?:

Hi, if the data is still there (probably), I think it could cost around 3-500eurs net I think, maybe less, depending on the actual condition.

regards,
pepe
