I am sure it works but the laptop failed and I took it out and had it hooked up to my computer I bought this thing from new egg that plugged into the ide cable with a power pin.

But I could get it to recognize in bios but never windows tried different program and nothing would every recognize it.

I have some very valuable pictures on here and would like to know what I need to use hard ware and software to get this date off I usually use get data back for ntfs and the program did recognize it but would not do a scan for some reason and I think it has something maybe with the hardware piece I bought from new egg It no longer works also so I will need some new way to hook it up to my pc. I was hoping for a ide to usb cable with power some how.

Any help would be nice thx.

Hello,

I think your HDD is password protected, wich is automatically de-activated by the laptop's BIOS in the boot time.
This is bad news, because this is hardware protection, and you can't unlock your drive.
This problem requires special equipment to do this.
Seek for professional help if you want your data.
If you play with this hdd you can activate the security erase function wich will destroy the data forever.

ps: The password is in the SA in the platters, so PCB swap will not work for you, only makes more problems...
