Hi,

I have here a broken 2.5" 40GB by Toshiba. I connect it to my computer using an USB2ATAPI adapter.
The disk makes unhealthy sounding rattling noises when it's running. I tried to mount it in Linux (Ubuntu) but it won't be detected. dmesg gives me different problems when I turn it off and on several times. Examples below.

Thanks in advance

Most probably bad bearing, common in these drives.

Not user-servicable I'm afraid.

Not really.

In any case, this should be easy job for pro and not cost too much.
