I think you might contact pcimage, as he is near.
His prices are fair, please ask him for a quotation.
I would estimate the price around 200eurs net.

I think any botched DIY attempts will turn 200eur into 500eur, maybe more. At present this is relatively straightforward procedure for a professional with the right tools, but as soon as this becomes anything other than straightforward due to burned tracks, or overheated processor etc then the DR cost will reflect it....

contact pcimage, get a quote and then decide whether you want to lose your data or not...

Hello drc

Why the rolling eyes ?

I guess its more a commentary on the general state of the forum these days

If you want to try to fix your drive yourself you should be able to read 5-10 other threads about similar problems, glean an understanding of the general concepts involved, and apply the knowledge to your specific situation. If not, you should contact someone who does this for a living and have them do it while the price is still low (before it has been messed with). Honestly I think that the level of guiding some people are willing to do is irresponsible in that at the end of the day you have someone messing with their drive who doesn't know what they are doing or why, and is just blindly following instructions that some random person on the internet has given them.

Hello all

F1 the component below the F ? No beep on 200ohms setting.

D1 is that the large rectangle adjacent to the E1 marking ?

If not can you circle the correct ones on the pcb photo.

Thankyou

E1 is the white component inside the white rectangle. It is a shock sensor. It is oriented at 45 degrees in order to sense the acceleration in both X and Y axes.

D1 appears to have three pins, which would suggest that it is a dual diode.

F1 is a fuse, and yes it is located below the F. It is open, so bridge it with a piece of wire, or replace it with a 2A picofuse.

If D1 tests shorted (ie zero ohms), then remove it, but be absolutely sure your power supply is OK.

The above job is extremely straightforward. Any junior TV tech should be able to do it for you for a few beers.

Yes, that PCB is OK and U12 is the chip to swap over.

Just make sure you do a good job (or get someone who is proficient at soldering to do it) and don't ruin the U12 chip, or you will have an expensive recovery on your hands.

Good luck!
