yeah, sourcing a donor drive can be useful. who knows...
But a recovery company should have such drives on stock.

Well, I don't know if I can send it outside here in a year or more than a year, so I think it's best for me if I buy one these days.
If I want to buy the exact model again should I just look for a "Maxtor 320GB DiamondMax21 7200.10 RPM SATA" or I should look for a "Maxtor P/N:9DP14G-326"?

If u can match P/N and site code, that's nice, but not always needed.

Well I have already bought another Maxtor 320GB HDD after the last one was hit, and it's totally different than my last one
It's really thinner
So, matching P/N is enough for me to be sure I'm buying the same exact model?

I have seen these with a broken spindle and the platters can rock about inside the drive. As they move about when the drive is moved, the actuator arms come into contact with the platters sometimes making big gouges. On one drive, the entire motor/platter stack had shifted up about 2mm and had jammed the platters up against the arms making massive dents in the platters.
