Hi guys!

I dropped my keys on the PCB of my running HDD by mistake so I guess it got shorted out. The drive started clicking about 4-5 seconds after the accident, so I shut down my PC immediately (could not shut down the OS properly because the applications froze). I know it's a long shot, but I got a new HDD and I'm trying to swap the boards. It's the same model, it has the same properties, same number of sectors, same board, etc.

Simply swapping the boards didn't work, but I'm guessing the firmwares are different (the old hdd was made in 2007 and the new in 2010). How can I check what firmware was used on the old drive? Also what else can I do to get the drive working?

This drive has pretty-much unique data programmed into the NVRAM on the PCB, so you have <1% chance of getting one that works straight off, without transferring the NVRAM.
