Just curious : what do you plan to do with SD box ? Have you ever worked with it ?


I have ZERO experience with SD Box, but here is my rough plan
1) Download firmware from donor drive
2) Backup the MCU adaptive data from malfunctioned drive (abb. as MHD)
3) Connect MHD to the box
4) Do SA defect scan
5) If fail, probably broken heads -> send to pros to fix it. (Since I need to recover all data, disabling the broken heads are not a good idea)
6) If head is ok, do SA defect scan
7) If ok, power off the drive and see if it works
7) If no, do FW upload
8) If still not work, send to pros

In theory this is good, but without understanding of module dependencies, and adaptive modules, and wide variety of SA to ensure compatibility it will be a very difficult.

Thank you for your comment.
I really have no understanding of each module.
I only know those easy one such as G-List/P-List/SMART etc.
However, the whole SA has too many modules and is too complicated. :(
