The company which is working with HDD recovery suggested to find firmware, or the list of compatible PCB's, before we open it. Would be good to find exact specifications of this model - number of heads, etc.
this infomation cannot be identified simply by looking at label or model numbers, and commercial shops/stores certainly will not be able to confirm this.
If a DR firm is
unable to provide a suitable PCB, or give poor advice such as urging you to find your own firmware, I would assume this specific DR firm will not be able to help and I would advise an additional service provider.
A reputable firm will have a good stock of both PCBs and Firmware backups, will have methods of accessing and in some cases restoring damaged modules, and a reputable firm will NEVER advise you to find your own firmware, especially as this can be identified only by viewing the firmware with specialist tools, which if you had you may not have needed the DR company in the first place.
