Just collating info on 1.8 inch disks

The following site lists some good info on physical characteristics of many of the 1.8 inch drives

http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HardDriveReplacement

I'm familar with the ZIF 40 interface, but not sure that the 50 pin one the earlier Ipod drives are supposed to have ?
Must be the one shown in
http://files.hddguru.com/download/Datas ... s-RevD.pdf

I'm still trying to identify which have 4k logical / 4k physical sectors
and also which have special firmware
(as per the following thread)
toshiba-apple-ipod-protected-harddrives-t10669.html

For a project I'm working on relating to true 4k logical / 4k physical
(as opposed to current Advanced Format 512 logical / 4K physical 512E)

Other related 1.8 inch info:

http://hddguru.com/software/2006.02.27- ... le-CD-ISO/
(fro detecting drive type)

Looks like all the drives thar are > 512 bytes per sector internally, still only expose themselves as 512 bytes per sector logically

eg
MK1224GAH MK6024GAL
http://www3.toshiba.co.jp/storage/engli ... /24dvc.htm

Anyone know of any that natively expose > 512 bytes per sector logically ?

... And there's theres the 1.8" Samsung HS12UHE used in Macbook Air (see http://forum.hddguru.com/samsung-hs212uhe-connectivity-apple-macbook-air-t17010.html)

It has a LIF-connector with 24 ribbons in the cable. It’s just a SATA connector wired differently (and some power /ground) … at least that’s what I could get out of google and http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=657341
(Been told there exist a small-LIF as well with an even smaller FCC-ribbon).

We haven't been able to find an adapter to SATA - but there is an usb adapter
