Hello there a first time here !

Well this is my sad history... my WD5000AAKB fell, I've opened up and accidentally bend the sensible heads, and now the only solution that comes to mind its to exchange plates with a donor HD.

Leave you're advice.

Thanks !

If the platters are spinning normally, why would you swap the platters to another drive?

look, if you want to do repair yourself, which I do not recommend, then address only what got damaged and not other components!

Stop now, send the drive to a pro before it is too late.

For us, most of the time, these drives are recovered for $1250 or less. Now that the drive has been opened and damaged internally, it is hard to say for sure what the cost will be.

As to where to send it, it really depends on where you are located.
