I Think you are better of to clone from ATA 0 to a network server, you can then have the other channel free to work with.
Cloning from ATA 0 or ATA 1 to the mainboard SATA channels may mean that you would need to either have your drives plugged in in advance or need to wait for an opportunity for a reboot to connect or disconnect drives.

Or you could just have a system with a eSATA or USB 3.0 external ports along with a docking station.

Cloning from ATA 0 to ATA 1 on PC3K is slow in a nutshell :)

Completely correct, but for peace of mind i like having redundancy so that when i make an image of a dying drive, i know my image is well and truly safe on a redundant system. if i loose 1 or 2 disks on our servers no issue.

All comes down to i guess what you have in place and personal preferences.

As far as PSUs are concerned, I simply can't recommend Seasonic enough. I like the modular M12II series and X series. They are not cheap but they are built like a tank, they provide a very stable output under any condition, they're efficient, they're quiet but most importantly, they're the most reliable I've come across.

I'm bringing this thread to life again because we are considering upgrading our UDMA machines.

They are currently running on XP 32-bit and I was thinking of going to Win7 64-bit with i7 and 16GB memory, but i see UDMA does not support 64-bit (hence, max. memory 3.2GB). I read a thread in Ace forum about people asking for 64bit support but no response from Ace staff.

Anyone know anything new? Is it worth waiting a few more months maybe, or should i just bite the bullet and go ahead with a new solid 32bit machine with 3GB ram?

I also built up a new UDMA machine recently and was keen to get loads of RAM in it, but ended up sticking with one 4GB DDR3 module as there is no 64-bit driver for PC3K so am stuck with Win 7 32-bit. No word from ACE on this that I have seen or heard.

Last year I started imaging from PC3K to drives connected via USB 3.0 but have found that, as fast as USB 3.0 is, it can be a bit flaky sometimes. I've since stuck in an add-on card that gave me an additional 4 SATA ports so these days I'm imaging from PC3K to drives connected to the host machine via SATA - no hassles.

My PC is overkill but I have dual boot for win7 64 for personal use & gaming.

My specs are:

1080 HD TV
1Gb HDMI grapics card
15Tb - 5x wd 3tb sata3 greens - Raid5 setup - hooked up through MB to make use of the sata3 speed
AMD 960T Black Edition 3.0GHz quadcore (have tested overclocking to 4.2Ghz fine - but running it at normal speed as that is fast enough)
ASUS Crosshair V Formula 990FX Socket AM3+ 8 Channel audio ATX Motherboard (7 sata3 ports & plenty of usb3 ports)
Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl Case - USB3.0 front & back & esata port
2x G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit
Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W Modular PSU
OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD - SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 500MB/s with the OS on

Yes I know its overkill for my PC3000 UDMA & PC3000 Flash SSD but I am definatly a gadget boy :D & its future proof

Loki, how do you run UDMA on a 64bit Win7 machine? Ace has not released drivers for PC3K card on 64bit.
