Hi all,

I want to replace base of a 7200.11 1.5TB (ST31500341AS) with seized motor. The only similar base I have available is from a 7200.11 1000GB (ST31000333AS).

Can someone confirm these two bases are compatible?

Thanks

The spindle bearings will probably be the same. So if you are looking to change the seized bearing then all should be OK (but a micrometer will tell for sure). Personally I only ever swap the bearing, I prefer to keep the platters on the original hub both for platter alignment and balance.

I have found that many Seagate drives use common spindle motor bearings.

Hope this helps..

Steve..

Thanks Steve.

I just tried it and it works just fine. All went well. I'm imaging drive as we speak. It's imaging slowly but I get loads of green sectors :D

Thanks again.

Dimitris
