Western Digital hard disk drives

In the alphabetic DCM code the sixth (and if you can the fifth, seventh and eigth) characters must match

Thanks Loki for your replay.
In my case only fifth don't match, 6th, 7th and 8th are same.

From my experience DCM doesn't matter too much in these newer WD series. I would say have a go with that donor.

It's just not that simple anymore.

DCM, all of that is useless.

Hello Kum Ruzvelt, what was your reason for changing the head? Was your harddrive firstly not detected in the bios of your computer? I am having the problems with the same WD20EARS 2TB harddrive, see my topic at: not-recognized-harddrive-t22923.html .
Do you know a good tutorial on how to change the head?

Like I wrote in my first post, bad heads.
This is not a DIY procedure and for head replacement you should have a tools and clean room.
