Hello,
i have a ST1500DL003 with a pcb issue.
i got a similar pcb for the drive and changed the ROM chip.
i get a error at the terminal:
"Flash boot code checksum failure!

SEA4 Boot ROM 2.0 (03/24/2009)
Copyright Seagate 2009"

I believe i solder the chip quit well. any ideas? Do you think i should try desolder and solder the chip again?

thank you

Only if it's faulty.

BTW, you really should invest in a better camera. Alternatively, tell us the markings on the chip.

IF PCB was compatible and there are other "sign" of work (*cough*) there is a certain probability they played with the drive and then sent to you or it was intentionally damaged. TO confirm , read the ROM externally and analyze it.
If it was screwed, you'll have to do your homework....
