Hi,

First question: how do you know it's a firmware problem? How did you reach that idea?

I have access to the HD, I can see the root and all files, but if I try to extract them from the hard disk, this files are all damaged except very small files. It seems the translator classic problem.

Well, I don't think translator problem is so classic on Toshiba drives, but I may be missing something.

Also, are you sure you can read the whole contents of the file? Have you tried to check them with a hex viewer to see if they have contents?

I did not mean that the translator problem is a classic thing about toshiba but that is similar to the translator problems of the other disks.

You've read the contents and files with winhex and it have content, but there are strange characters in the header.

I see.
And have you checked if your sectors are being read correctly or read with ECC errors?

Well, without checking it I can't help much more, as we would need to be sure about it.

Sounds like 'LBA shifting' to me, not fw

Don't know much without diagnosing the drive
