i still testing SSD.

now i can not get output by tx/RX port.

any idea?

thanks

If you know how to use a multimeter, I can show you the voltage test points.

sure please, let me know

thanks fzbkar

There should be +5V at the F1 solder pad near the SATA power connector.

Check the +3.3V pin at the JTAG connector.

Check the outputs of the coils L1 and L2. The associated circuits look like buck regulators. I believe they will be providing +3.3V and Vcore (1V - 2V).

There is also an IC on the other side (U22) that I can't recognise. It would help a lot if you could zoom up on the affected areas, and provide me with the chip markings.

Have a Q for you here about SSD, if you ever had this problem

Phoenix Pro SSD (SandForce), working means detecting and reading OK
but Unable to FORMAT it or RE-USE IT

kind of Stuck somewhere (which i dono where really) but looks Intresting really
when its DETECTING but unable to:

1- Format it
2- Copy Anything TO IT - but can TAKE FROM IT

looks very Strange

if this damn SSD was a HDD, i would think of many reasons, but as an SSD, nothing

btw, i tried many formatting tools such as:

1- HDDScan
2- Guru - LLF
3- Windows format

all of those shows formatting progress, i leave it for a while then i stop it
then when i disconnect n reconnect it back, Damn it, everything comes back like NO ONE DID ANYTHING TO IT

i was laughing today about it, but really never had similar case like this, and i assume you too

let me know my dear

AIUI an SSD becomes readonly when it runs out of spare blocks. Did you check the SMART attributes?

Thanks fzabkar for your tips, ill make new pics and upload it.

Thanks

Hi fzabkar

I atach better pics

hi fzabkar,

I suppose that F1 solder pad is the site of a fuse

But this not here

You think must be a fuse?

See it at least 2-3 per month and increasing (I still wonder why people are buying SSDs ). PM me.

I bought a batch of 64GB USB thumb drives that are known for this issue...wish I had known before wasting my time on them. Just in case you are wondering, I don't recommend Hip Street branded 64GB USB thumb drives.

Turned into RO ?

The location for F1 (yes, it is a fuse) has been left vacant because the design allows for R1 or F1 but not both. The only reason I asked you to measure the voltage at that point was that it is more accessible than R1.

Coils L1 and L2, plus their associated "OFA" ICs, constitute two switchmode regulators. The voltages at the coils will be the outputs of the regulators.

I can't make out the markings on the IC at U7, but it appears to be a POWR607. Its function is to monitor and sequence the onboard power supplies and to provide a watchdog timer to reset the controller in the event that the firmware gets stuck in a loop or the controller hangs.

I'm a bit concerned about the "stuff" in the top right corner of the IC. It could be a manufacturing mark (the IC is in-circuit programmable), but I'm not sure.

The IC monitors 6 voltages (at pins 1,2,4,5,6,7), but the circuit is suggesting that there are actually 4 voltages being monitored. I would measure the voltages identified in the attachment.

I can't make out the markings on U22, but the logo looks like it belongs to Fairchild, so it appears to be a power IC of some kind. Could you tell me its markings?

Sorry, that pinout is for a different package. The actual voltage monitor pins (VMON) are 2,3,5,6,7 and 10.

In fact i got it as a Gift from one of my friends for my Research, and was wondering if someone had it before with SSD

BlackST

And i`ll be sending it to one of my friends here for more Diagnose since he loves those stuff,

thank you

Yup. I was transferring client recovered data to the key as a destination drive and the process failed mid stream and boom! I could only read the data. This happened with 2 of out of 2 keys. I did a google search and found that almost 100% of the reviews reported the exact same symptoms.

Thanks fzabkar for your clever advices

I am not in work and i can not see PCB but ill take a characters and report here .

L1=0,97V
L1=2,79V

about other voltages
Fuse pins to ground = 4,9V

JTAG P1 to ground = 3,22V

about the "stuff" i'll verify it but looks like a factory mark (any cain metalik ink) or maybe "tin waste". but not sure i have not the ssd here now tomoorow i'll verify it

i'll test from points to ground

[/quote]

I'll read i t for you

thanks another time

I presume the two L1 readings actually refer to L1 and L2. If so, then the 2.79V reading must be the supply for the NAND flash array, and 0.97V must be the Vcore supply for the SandForce controller.

If so, then the JTAG supply must be coming from some other IC, possibly U3 near the SATA power input (or U22).

In any case, 2.79V is too low for the NAND array. My searching suggests that the OCZ M2502128T048AX22 NAND flash parts are rebadged Micron MT29F128G08CFAAAWP chips. These are 3.3V, 128Gb, 16G x 8 parts.

If this measurement is correct, and if my analysis is correct, then the POWR607 chip is probably holding the SF-1222TA3-SBH controller in a reset state.

Can you tell me the markings on U3 and U4?

Could you also measure the resistances of R4, R5, R22, and R23? These will allow us to calculate the correct supply voltages for the "OFA" regulators.

If the 2.8V reading is correct, then check each of the NAND flash chips for heating. One or more of them may be pulling the 3.3V supply down. Otherwise there could be a problem in the Vio section of the controller.

The problem is in any case elsewhere.
But be real : if one of the flash is broken, if the controller is broken/malfunctioning, and if the circuit is malfunctioning without knowing how it works (and expensive tools) no amount of tinkering will get a a byte out of it. Also, there's encryption to deal with. Good luck.
