hello friends ;


i have got a

seagate barracuda
st3500320as
S/N: 9QM8GMJS
P/N: 9BX154-303
DATE CODE : 09174
SITE: KRATTSG

producing a sound when powerd u , and doesn't get ready in ddi

terminal log is

LED:000000CC FAddr:0024A051
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024A051

the drive doesn't power down untill i power it down ..

i suspect the heads . and found an expected donor for it

MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX
st3500320as
S/N: 9QM20GJ4
P/N: 9GT154-325
DATE CODE : 08383

what do u think abut the problem ? and if it is heads , is the donor drive considered a good donor ?

This is typical BSY bug. Nothing to do with heads.

at my knowledge , busy bug doesn't prevent the drive from ID ...
this drive doesn't ID at all

sorry , i may misunderstood u .

it is the BSY bug , but i handled several similar drives with BSY bug , there didn't have this kind of noise ...

i started thinking that the drive did has the BSY bug at first and user tried several things to get his daa back , so that he ruined his drive more ...

the sound is attached ..
no scratches sound , it just produce a noise

I would say is the BSY bug too.

But hearing this sounds, maybe stucked heads, or any other problem in heads, maybe in platters

there is difinately something else other than BSY , even trying to clear SMART "a very simple R/W operation" will make the drive produce the noise again ..

heads are not stuck , does the donor i have presents a good head replacement one ?

scratches on the surface :cry:

donor heads act just like the patient heads ......
