Hi,
I have a SEAGATE ST3500418AS with a bad TRANSLATOR. ( Module 28 ). Rest all modules i have backed up in terminal reading mode. It gives terminal access
I am using PC-3K. Efforts to regen fail it gives LED:000000CC FAddr:0024E2D
Both the copies of 28 are not reading at all.
My question is Could it be due to bad area ?
If yes then is there a way ?
Any hints appreciated.
Thanks

What's the P/N of the drive?

I can only guess without the drive on hands, but it looks like heads can't write anymore.

Have you tried the "LED:000000CC Fix" in PC-3000? It could be just a simple fix.

If you are referring to SEAGATE F/W Fix then its not working on this drive. That is what i have posted that if i attempt to regen translator it gives the error specified.

Thanks for replies

Roughly speaking, it's SA backup, SMART clean-up and translator rebuild, so there's not much difference.
But none will work if both copies of mod 28 are unreadable.

Can you read mod 28 with read continue option? Maybe is possible to 'patch' errors inside this file and write back. You can ignore read errors when reading system file for this, 3,028,0
