What may have led to drive failure? Anything out of the norm?
What was the drive's behavior, physical and logical, if any, PRIOR to doing anything with it?

Thank you for your reply. When I start the computer my HDD drive starts to spin and it gives some
(may be 10 or so)clicking sound and goes salient. I am having RS232 terminal connector. I can access F3 T> terminal point.
i have tried ctrl+Z . It spins down. But ctrl+U gives error.

You can give me step by step instruction. I"ll try it and post the result .

Sometimes could be a firmware issue, but most frequently it is a heads issue.
Just post the terminal upon issuing the "U" command.
