Hi,
I have this drive with SD45 firmware (Google shows that this fw is usually paired with ST3500820AS) and it shows unknown cache size - a known issue with these drives having SD04 firmware, which the drive originally had according to the label. PCB no. is 100466725. I wanted to update to SD1A as recommended by Seagate, but having different (than expected by the update) firmware, the procedure fails. Is there a way to force the update or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Here is the configuration file that is packaged with the update:

This thread explains what you need to do:

Thanks, both of you. I read the other topic as suggested by Franc, but confused about how to do it. So I did a workaround: first updated to AD14 from floppy, then the SD1A (exe) went smooth. Funny, but Victoria still shows unknown cache size, so maybe it is a general Seagate or Victoria bug.

The unknown cache size is not a bug but a limitation of the ATA standard.

For my SD45 ST3500820AS (difference is cache size) I was pointed to SD4A firmware.

My problem is the drive is in a USB enclosure (Medion HDD2Go) and after taking out the two endcap screws, can't figure out how to get anything else out - also has an ESATA connection.
