Hello,

I'm trying to make a backup image of a 500GB drive that was inside a iMac (APFS file system), and now in a USB enclosure connected to a Windows 10 PC.

The HDD Raw Copy Tool successfully create a .img file in about 4 hours, but then when I try to mount this file to view the content, with Windows's integrated image tool, or with WinCDEmu, both saying the .img file is corrupted.

What to do ?

Can DMDE see the file system when the drive is inside the enclosure? Did you verify that the file system could be mounted by your Mac OS?

I'm wondering whether the enclosure has a 4KB sector size.

The drive can be mounted with Paragon APFS for Windows, I have successfully mounted it and copied all files manually to another drive, but some files paths were too long and couldn't be copied so I wanted to make an image of the drive instead, so I found this HDD raw copy tool, but I am wondering if the generated .img is a normal .img or is it specific to HDD raw copy ? Or maybe GB is too big to be mounted as a virtual drive ?

The drive is working when it's inside the iMac

As Fzabkar mentioned, you can check the paths/files visibility in DMDE.
You can do the same for image you've created.

I opened the .img with DMDE successfully, so the .img is probably not corrupted, however it seems that this program cannot find APFS partitions
