 Post subject: st500um001 not spining

Hello .
I have a seagate st500um001 hdd thas not spinning .
I suspect the rom as f3explorer says there is a bad IAP .I dont know how to repair this rom.
Please help.

IAP doesn't have a checksum, AFAIK.

What do you see in terminal?

I dont have terminal now. But can you examine my rom if you can identify any errors.

Yes, upload the ROM. Sometimes PUIS (Power Up In Standby) is enabled. The PUIS flag is stored in the IAP segment.

I can't see anything wrong.

Edit:

I now see that this is an SSHD, in which case I suspect that there may be a problem with the NAND flash.

Can I use a donor pcb from a similar sshd and move the rom chip to the donor and expect better results.. Does the nand chip have any drive specific code in it?

A ROM transfer doesn't work on other Seagate SSHDs, so I doubt it will work in your case.
