 Post subject: Vendor for Maxtor 250gb logic board?

Need a replacement logic board for a Maxtor MaxLine Plus II 250gb ATA/IDE HDD. Logic board indicates as follows:

301862101 Calypso/Koi P/Therm M8FYB

Any suggestions? thx!

search on google. found one site long time ago http://www.ultratec.co.uk

they have lots of PCB's and HDD

In the UK but shipping to USA was about $40

Just ordered the appropriate logic board from the above vendor. He sells it for $15 plus about $40 shipping from Malaysia. I will report results.

I have also read a string somewhere about difficulties in getting replacement logic boards to work since the bad block map or whatever it's called is not the same as the original. There were a variety of difficulties in doing this relatively simple operation which I will provide here if I can locate the link on my other computer.

hi, the "bad block map" isnt on the pcb. u have to pick up the proper pcb or if you have the tools, you can fix it

Received the goods as promised, and he sent me two for the price of one! Maybe there are two versions of the board and felt I should have both [??] One component that says "1R5" is different on each board. Don't know if that means anything. Will update if I can resurrect the drive.

Hi,

The component with the '1R5' marking is the inductor for -5V power supply, it has nothing to do with FW version.
