I assume your poblem is that th drive is limited to 8Gb?

Could be HPA cut (use MHDD to fix back to max LBA), or F/W corruption.

If it's F/w corruption, then I don't think the f/w "update" program will work. It only updates, not fixes. I bet it will only update a handfull of modules, not the full f/w.

No.
I want to erase drive with DFT software.
Now program stopped when chech SMART status :(
I read @ another forum, firmware upgrade can (but not must) erase SMART attributes and i want to chech it myself :)
Drive is very slow and have much bad sectors - i have nothing to loose :)

Other erasers (like WDCLEAD, MHDD, Victoria etc.) not erase drive like i want :)

Only i want is upgrade firmware in my drive. Other help is not necessary.

Well, you'll never get it to erase until you get it recognised as the full 60Gb.

IMHO you have more problems than a few bad sectors.

The SMART has failed for a reason, coupled with the fact it's only seen as 60Gb, it doesn't look good.

Have you actually tried to reset the HPA with MHDD?

Look at Hitachi tool. It says current capacity = 8063.51Mb which is ~ 8Gb

Trust me, from the evidence you give you have more problems than a simple reset smart and erase will fix ;-)

Maybe you can try "HDD Repair 2.0" to reset the SMART, but I doubt it will do you any good.

I know it seems a shame to waste a 60Gb drive, but unless you have lots of spare time on your hands, then bin it!

Good luck

Sean

Tool see only 8GB because drive is not detect on BIOS!
I connect HDD to old i440LX mobo with P3 333MHz (32GB limit)
When i connect it to Promise Ultra100 TX2 controller, drive is normal detect as 60GB.

I repeat: I want only to reset smart attributes and i want to upgrade firmware.
I haven`t hardware PC3000, only emulator for DOS, but it`s don`t support this drive :(

Some ideas?

Try to upgrade your HDD Firmware using a PC that can detect the full capacity of the drive !!!!!

I patch my BIOS with BIOS Patchee, but i still can`t upgrade the firmware :(
BIOS detect correctly drive!

If that's your own goal try to use the test provided by drive fitness test. It should move G-List to P-List and fix anny S.M.A.R.T. Problem. Don't upgrade firmware.

Unfortunately, when i launch quick or advanced test in DFT, program stopped with error: SMART failed...

Go buy original products and software. Pirated software is not good to anyone. If you can't buy the software go buy another drive.

Try to use free or less expensive alternatives to PC-3000.

It wasn`t nice :(
Maybe you can tell me, what can i use?
How software can i use?

I`m not a professional service and i can`t buy full PC3000 carb by 1k Euro or something :(

Mayby someone knows method to completely clear G-List and/or P-List?
