From what I gather, you somehow think maybe something on the topside is fried... Here's a pic of "the other side" of my PCB...

As I said, the ONLY thing wrong as far as I can tell is the pin being pushed back. I'm not retarded, if a chip was fried out I would have said so...

Sorry, no, i don't say that because want to see burned chips.
I am thinked about bad soldering, and additionals caused by bad soldering....

The only interesting is in your meassage is the clicking noise.

Janos

Oh right right right. Ya the soldering job isn't the best, but I was pretty carefull not to make any connections that were't supposed to be there. As far as I can gather there isn't any visable damage done by the soldering.

As for the "clicking noise" - I made a mistake in posting that. What I head was the electric "trigger" on my HDD Enclosure trying to power the drive on. When i moved the drive in to a regular desktop PC, there was no clik at all. In fact it sounded as good as the day I bought it one year ago.

So from what I'm reading, even if I do swap out the PCB for one with the same firmware, I'll need to swap out a chip or two on the PCB? I dont know if I'd be able to do that...

So in other words, the exact match that you have, should not need to be modified at all? (assuming replacing the PCB solves my problem)

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 300gb with lots of stuff that I never backed up (tisk tisk). Anyway a connector pin broke off, I tried soldering it but it still will not read. I do hear a clicking noise, but no spinnning.

As far as I can tell the only thing wrong would be the pin. I assume I need to replace the PCB, but I'm having a tough time finding a replacment. Any suggestions???

Hi ,

I beleive it was tricky question
This PCB have only ROM and no NVRAM chip (Some Seagates' PCBs have even no ROM chip - on such PCBs ROM is inside MCU)
