with less easier cases coming in due to people sharing info, and easy cases which are now hard due to mistreatment of info, i'm just going to start charging double for these cases and for seized motors. I think the seized motors could be on a par with the firmware corruption in terms of failure rate. I'm seeing loads of them, like to see then sort that out with a cheap converter!

I think it's really odd that Seagate links to HDDGURU to provide their clients with Seagate's own info!

But it figures . . . In my experience, Seagate's factory tech support has been worse than awful.

It's not that bad, I think - 99% of people don't know what rs232 is,
and then of the rest 50% are scared to do something and
of the rest 25% are too lazy to try it and of the rest it does not work
1/2 the time - so that leaves a few handfuls of people who would not pay anything
for the work anyway.

Anyway WD, Hitachi and sungsam are determined to outdo ST and those solutions are not so easy, so glory
days for gurus are just around the corner, once again just like 2002.

How about not posting confidential info on the forum and only answer via pm for specific details and solutions?

Knowing Seagate they probably wouldnt mind. Less hard drives they would have to repair or replace . Ah, you f**ked with firmware. You voided the warranty.
