I won't be surprised if there some other issues with a drive besides a ROM chip.

the ROM CHIP was removed already from the PCB while client submitted the drive.

The ROM on 7200.10 does not contain adaptives unique to the drive, so matching compatible ROM will allow for compatibility. If you can not get original ROM, I would start by trying to find donor PCB with matching code eg. 100406541. Alternatively if you have large collection of ROM resources for 7200.10 you can try several to try find a match.

You will need to verify compatibility via Terminal output as I have a feeling there may be other problems also :(

Am I wrong thinking that SA location varies on .10 and it is hardcoded in the ROM?

Maybe you are right, I am not totally sure. I have had some success in PCB replacement without ROM soldering, but also some cases where ROM transfer is needed. Maybe with .10 it is possible to simply get lucky :)

you have to be very lucky if SA location is the same but it is possible, I've had some success with Travelstars without changing ROM. (1 out of 300!)

I've made interesting experiences with seagate drives in the past. I didn't understand why SA location changed after a selfscan. In fact tracks change but gray code always seems to be the same. Reading the rom after the selfscan showed no differences... In drives with the same firmware revision, gray codes seems to be constant but, tracks are different and pcb swap is possible without swapping rom. But these drives were not .10
